Arizona Youth University:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is AYU?
Arizona Youth University (AYU) is an educational summer enrichment program for children in grades 4-12 beginning summer 2007. Camps are partnered with different campus departments to bring quality and stimulating camps on a college campus.

How can we receive a current AYU brochure?
Please call 520.621.7724 to be placed on mailing list or fill out the Online Request Form.

Are lunches and snacks provided?
This program does not provide daily lunches, snacks or drinks. Some camps may offer some refreshments which will be discussed during your child’s camp. For all day classes, students will eat together under the supervision of a counselor. Students are not permitted to leave the group.

Is attendance taken?
Attendance is recorded daily as well as check-out at the end of the day. If your child is absent, please call the coordinator’s cell phone (the number will be provided on the first day as well as posted on the web when it becomes available) if your child must miss a class or needs to leave early. If no call is received, the parent and/or emergency contacts will be called from the numbers you provide on the emergency form.

Who are the instructors?
First-rate University of Arizona faculty, UA graduate and undergraduate students, Tucson elementary and secondary teachers, and professionals from the Tucson community make up AYU’s excellent faculty.

Is there financial assistance available?
Currently, financial assistance is available on a limited basis for up to half of the tuition cost. If your child’s attendance at AYU is not possible without assistance, please call 520-621-7724 for more information. You will be notified by the middle of May about your award of financial assistance for your child.
