UA CENTER FOR COMPUTER & PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AUTHORIZED
AS ORACLE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROVIDER

June 23, 2006

The University of Arizona Center for Computer & Professional Education was recently authorized as a training provider for the Oracle Workforce Development Program.

Oracle’s Workforce Development Program (WDP) allows educational institutions to deliver Oracle training as part of certificate and non-degree programs offered through Continuing Education. The Center for Computer & Professional Education, a unit of the UA Office of Continuing Education and Academic Outreach, offers a wide selection of information technology and professional training courses to individuals, businesses, and organizations.

Oracle Corporation launched WDP to address the continued global information technology (IT) worker shortage and the need for accessible and low cost IT skills training. WDP enables participating educational institutions to deliver Oracle training to individuals in their local communities.

“This WDP program is great for business, industry, and government agencies in Southern Arizona because now they won’t have to send people to Phoenix, L.A., or Denver to get the training they need,” said Duane Vild, Senior Program Specialist at the UA Center for Computer & Professional Education.

WDP training prepares students for Oracle certification testing. Oracle Certifications are industry-recognized credentials that provide reliable validation of professional training and experience, readies students for a variety of Oracle-related job roles and career advancement opportunities, and improves organizational productivity.
