This fall, The University of Arizona Credit Outreach program is offering two Physical Education courses: PE 229: Swimming-Lifeguard Training (2 units) and PE 261: Advanced First Aid & Emergency Care (2 units).
Both courses will be held on the UA campus on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
PE 229: Swimming-Lifeguard Training (starts August 22 and ends October 12, 2006), brings American Red Cross training into the classroom and provides hands-on practice exercises. The course emphasizes surveillance skills for recognizing and preventing injuries, rescue skills on water and land, first aid training, rescuer CPR, and professional lifeguard responsibilities.
PE 261: Advanced First Aid & Emergency Care (starts October 17 and ends December 7, 2006) is designed specifically for individuals interested in becoming “first responders” or who have present or anticipate future job-related responsibilities for emergency preparedness and response (law enforcement or EMS personnel, firefighters, business/industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants, coaches, athletic trainers, and others).
